Heat Pump Efficiency

Efficiency can be expressed in numbers. How much electricity does a heat pump require? And how much heating energy can be generated with it?

The efficiency of a heat pump during a heating period is illustrated by the ratio between the thermal energy supplied by the heat pump heating system and the amount of energy (electricity) required to operate the system for one year.

This so-called annual performance factor of a particular heat pump system can be easily calculated with just a few clicks of your mouse using our Dimplex online planner.
In order to ensure efficient operation and thus the highest possible annual performance factor, the heat pump should be operated with low flow temperatures.

An annual performance factor of 4 denotes that three parts of energy are supplied by the environment for free, and that only one part actually has to be paid for.
