What does the seal of approval say about “Certified Quality?”

The “Certified Quality” seal of approval for heat pumps is meant to establish a minimum market standard when it comes to energy efficiency, reliability and service.

In Germany, the Federal Association for Heat Pumps (Bundesverband WärmePumpe e.V., BWP) is responsible for awarding this international seal of approval. The criteria for this award are set by the international task force “D-A-CH”. Various public funding initiatives from Germany, Austria and Switzerland provide D-A-CH with behind-the-scenes support.

All heat pumps must be tested by authorized institutions before the seal of approval can be awarded. The technical specifications (heat output, COP, noise emissions, etc.) as well as the distribution, sales, planning, service and operation documentation are thoroughly examined for each type of heat pump undergoing certification. Furthermore, it must be expressly guaranteed that appropriate spare parts will be available for at least 10 years to maintain the heat pump in good operating condition. Should either the technical data or the product documentation fail to meet the standards of the D-A-CH seal of approval, or should the technical data of the heat pump deviate from the manufacturer’s device information, certification will not be awarded. The awarded seals of approval are made public following successful certification.

A list of the Dimplex heat pumps selected for the seal of approval can be found on the website of the Federal Association for Heat Pumps (BWP) at www.waermepumpe-bwp.de under “Bauherren und Interessenten” (Building owners and interested parties), or by clicking here.
