Domestic Hot Water Preparation with Heat Pumps

Heat pumps can be used not only for domestic heating, but also for supplying heat for energy-efficient domestic hot water preparation according to need.

When selecting a hot water cylinder, the maximum heat output of the heat pump (summer operation) and the desired cylinder temperature in heat pump operation must be observed to ensure that your water will reach comfortable temperatures and your heat pump will operate efficiently.  Possible utility shut-off times as well as individual water consumption preferences should also be taken into account.

If a combination of the heat pump with a solar collector system is desired, the energy of the water heated with solar energy is fed into the hot water cylinder via a solar station. In larger solar collector systems, suitable hydraulic installation enables supplementary heating and domestic hot water preparation via a special combo tank.  If this combo tank or a solar heat exchanger is used, domestic hot water preparation is carried out according to the flow principle.

Where to find the right combo tank and solar heat exchanger.
